Trust first.
Then hand over the keys.
Choosing a body shop usually happens on a bad day, with an insurer on the phone and a car that won’t look right until it’s fixed. Most people ask a friend. Auto Body Check is for when you don’t have one to ask — or want to double-check the one you got. We show what you can verify for yourself: the shop’s state registration, the certifications and warranty it states, real photos, review sources and hours. No invented ratings, and anything featured is clearly labeled.
Auto Body Check helps drivers find auto body, collision repair, paint and dent repair shops, compare what they publish, and contact them directly. We’re starting with Greater Los Angeles.
A first collection, with room to grow.
Our collection includes 140 physical locations across 57 neighborhood and city groups. It is a researched starting point, not a complete inventory of LA body shops. We include independent shops, dealer collision centers and chain locations, and keep each branch as its own listing. Owner-verified profiles are marked individually after review.
Where the details come from.
We use each shop’s own website and location pages. Where direct retrieval was unavailable, we reviewed search-indexed pages from the official website. Every profile links to its sources and shows when we checked them. A source-check date does not mean the shop updated the page that day.
Published opening hours use Los Angeles local time. Unknown hours stay unknown. Map pins and distances are geocoded from each shop’s published street address, so they are approximate. Your location is only used in your browser to sort by distance — it is never sent to us. Initials appear when we have not sourced a usable business logo.
Registration, certifications and warranties.
California auto repair dealers register with the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). We show a BAR registration number when the shop publishes it, or when the state’s public register matches the shop’s exact name and address — never a guess.
Certifications — I-CAR Gold Class, ASE, and factory (OEM) programs from carmakers such as Tesla, Honda or Ford — appear exactly as the shop states them, linked to the page where it says so. We don’t verify them with the carmaker, and programs are renewed and can lapse, so confirm with the manufacturer before relying on one. Warranties and insurance notes are short paraphrases of what the shop publishes; the shop’s written terms are what count. See factory-certified shops by make and what OEM certification means.
Body shops rarely publish prices. We record one only when the shop publishes it, and we don’t estimate repair costs.
A closer look at each shop.
Photos come from official shop websites and linked business profiles. We label the workshop, the building, finished work and team photos separately, and link every image to its source. We don’t use stock images, map imagery or photos showing readable license plates. Images may show an earlier appearance of the shop. Owners can request a replacement or removal through the correction form.
Reviews, with their sources.
Profiles link to matching review pages where we can identify them. We don’t copy star ratings or review counts from other platforms — we link to them, so you always read the current reviews in their own context. Shop-selected testimonials are kept separate from independent reviews.
What a listing means.
Inclusion is not an endorsement, partnership, or quality rating. We don’t invent reviews, star ratings, prices or credentials. Nothing on Auto Body Check is legal or insurance advice. Business names and logos identify the shops and belong to their respective owners.
What “Featured” means.
Some owner-verified shops are Featured. Featured shops have spoken with Winback Engine, the company behind Auto Body Check, about its customer-reactivation service, and may be Winback Engine customers. Featured shops carry a “Featured” label and can appear first in the default sort. Featuring never changes a shop’s trust check, credentials, photos or review sources, and every other sort and filter works exactly the same for every shop.
For shop owners.
Claim requests and suggested corrections are free. Requests are held for review; submitting a form does not change a public profile or prove ownership. Ownership should be established through a business contact that was independently published before the request.
Why Winback Engine?
This directory is a Winback Engine project. Alongside helping drivers find local shops, we want to meet business owners who need help reconnecting with past customers. Owners can choose to ask about that service. It is separate from a free directory listing.
