Before you hand over the keys, ask.
Four questions that tell you a lot about a body shop. A good shop will answer them plainly.
- Are you certified for my car?Ask about I-CAR training and a factory certification for your make — it matters most for EVs, aluminum bodies and cars with driver-assistance sensors.
- Which parts will you use?OEM, aftermarket or used. Your estimate and final invoice should say which, and California requires the invoice to name non-OEM crash parts.
- What does the warranty cover?Ask for the workmanship and paint warranty in writing, and what it excludes.
- How long, and will I have a car?Ask for an expected timeline, how you’ll get updates, and whether they can help with a rental through your insurer.
